Storyboarding Course in Singapore
A storyboard is a visual arrangement that provides the viewer with a high-level view of a project similar to a comic strip. The concept comes from the motion picture industry where they are used to help directors and cinematographers visual a film’s scenes in sequence.
Storyboards can be physical or digital. If kept updated, they give users the ability to quickly get a sense of what work has been completed, who’s working on what and what job is left to do. This not only provides transparency but also helps the team picture how their efforts and activities are interconnected.
The application of storyboards in project management is useful as a tool for project planning. They outline the steps involved in the project and provide a detailed description of everything that happens or occurs in each of them.
Storyboards are of great benefit to project managers. They transform dull and passive data into lively and dynamic pieces making it easier to grab and keep the attention of stakeholders. They can also be used to present complex concepts simply.
This tool is also an excellent way to highlight missing tasks, reveal problems, and complications. Once issues are identified, project teams can make changes and rearrange tasks as needed before the project advances to the execution phase.
Typically, storyboard designed are built around DMAIC, an approach to problem-solving used in Six Sigma-based process improvement models. The first three phases of the methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze) explain the problem and provide answers to questions about the current state of processes and the root causes of poor process outcomes. The last two steps (Improve, Control) focus on changing the ongoing process to meet improvement goals.
This course helps participants understand what a storyboard is and what benefits using one brings to project management. At the end of this course, they’ll have the tools, skills, and knowledge to create a project storyboard.
