There is a correlation between emotion regulation and our ability to manage our stress and stay productive under pressure. Anxiety, frustration, and anger are the most common emotions people take to work. These negative emotions can diminish our ability to correctly assess and react to what is going on in adverse and stressful situations. The key is to cultivate an awareness of stress triggers—change in project scope, an unhappy client, and so on—and catch ourselves before spiralling into a habitual emotional reaction. Learn how to spot these sentiments in their team and coach them to return to calm and focus. Getting a grip on emotion control is indeed the most important soft skill.
