About This Course
The Holland Codes career test, originally developed by American psychologist Dr. John L. Holland, is a test that matches an individual’s preferences with his/her working environment. This is based on several career theories by Dr. Holland with a bottom line that people who like the same things inside and outside of their occupation have high success rates in their jobs, happy and positive dispositions, and good relationships.
Dr. Holland classified personality types into six which can be easily remembered through the acronym RIASEC which stands for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Each type has corresponding characteristics and the matching ideal career for an individual. For example, artistic types would thrive best in creative environments. They would not cope well with clerical jobs which rely on order. However, there are hundreds of personalities in the world and those who are practical and systematic (Realistic) can also be analytical and scientific (Investigative). In this case, a combination of two or more personality types is an individual’s Holland Code.
This course will introduce participants to the theories and concepts involving the Holland Codes career test and its importance and impact on modern psychology. It will also provide an overview of what to expect for those interested in taking the test.
